Management of Gallbladder Remnant and the Cystic Duct Stump Calculi: A Retrospective Study

Introduction: Gall bladder remnant and cystic duct stump calculi are reality in the era of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (LC). Despite a seemingly uneventful cholecystectomy, nearly 15% patients continue to have biliary symptoms; post-cholecystectomy syndrome (PCS); which can manifest anytime from few days several years after surgery This study aims assess safety feasibility exploration gallbladder leading PCS. Materials Methods: In this study, surgical explorations was done 25 patients. The considered parameters like operative time, conversion rate, post-operative complications, hospital stay mortality these duration 2 data retrospectively reviewed. Results: diagnosed as symptomatic were identified. most common symptoms at presentation included right upper quadrant pain (80%), Jaundice(12%) Cholangitis (4%). Symptoms began 6 months index cholecystectomy. Diagnostic modalities utilized evaluation demonstrated that MRCP effective with sensitivities 100%. Of patients, 22 (88%) had completion LC . 3 (12%) converted open cholecystectomy because dense adhesions non-identification structures laparoscopically. Conclusion: Diagnosis residual GB stone is difficult. expert hands standard approach , be performed within reasonable operating time. There low rate minimal complications shorter morbidity. Completion challenging but highly effective.
